Organisations endre

To Norwegians, organisations are vital to social life. If you want to get to know people and even get friends in Norway, a good tip is to join an organisation doing something you're interested in. In Fjærland, most people are members of several organisations, so it's a great way to meet people. To get even deeper in society, you can take part in running the organisations. Most of us take turns as members of the different boards, and there is room for you too. On this wiki, we'll make pages for most organisations, currently in Norwegian: Lag og organisasjonar.

Local democracy endre

Fjærland's local democracy is active and has real impact on daily life here. All inhabitants (including you!) are members of the Bygdautval, and a board is chosen among us. This is the Bygdalag, which partly acts as an intermediary between the inhabitants and the municipality, and partly as its own little council. Many important matters are discussed and settled at community meetings. These meetings are always announced beforehand. The community meetings are a good way to meet people and get news about what's happening. The debate climate is good, and we do our best to keep it inclusive and easy to join (this wiki tries to be part of that effort). Our principle is simple: We know that you possess knowledge and skills. You are important. You have something to offer. You matter. You are welcome and needed. We encourage you to become part of the social fabric in Fjærland, even if you don't speak much Norwegian.
