If you want to get to know people and even get friends in Norway, you join an organisation according to your interests. In Fjærland, most people are members of several organisations. To get even deeper in society, you can take part in running the organisations. Most of us take turns as members of the different boards, and there is room for you. On this wiki, we'll make pages for most organisations.
Local democracy
Fjærland's local democracy is active and has real impact on daily life here. All inhabitants are members of the Bygdautval, and a board is chosen among us. This is the Bygdalag. Most important matters are discussed and settled at community meetings. These meetings are always announced beforehand, so pay attention to the billboard at the grocery store. The community meetings are a good way to meet people and get news about what's happening. The debate climate is good, and we do our best to keep it inclusive and easy to join (this wiki is part of that effort). Our principle remains that you possess knowledge that matters here, and that you can contribute positively. You are welcomed and needed. We encourage you to join in, even if you don't speak much Norwegian.
